Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 21, 2026
Raiser Software Inc. ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use Atlas, our collaborative trip organizer.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and profile photo (optional).
- Trip Data: Information about trips you create or join, including trip names, dates, destinations, itineraries, and expenses.
- Social Connections: Friend connections and trip memberships you create within the app.
- Device Information: We collect a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token so we can deliver push notifications to your device. This token is linked to your account and is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
- Location Data: When you choose to share your live location with trip members, we temporarily collect your device's GPS coordinates. See the Location Data section below for details.
- Purchases: If you subscribe to Atlas Pro, our payment processor (RevenueCat) collects your subscription status, purchase history, and a pseudonymous purchaser ID. Apple or Google (whichever store you purchased through) processes the actual payment — we never see your payment details.
- Crash Data: When Atlas crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects a stack trace, device model, operating system version, and a pseudonymous installation ID so we can diagnose and fix the crash. No personal content is included.
- Performance Data: Firebase Performance Monitoring collects aggregated metrics (app start time, network request latency, screen rendering time) along with device model and OS version so we can identify slow or failing paths. No personal content is included.
Location Data
Atlas includes an optional live location sharing feature that allows you to temporarily share your real-time position with other members of a trip. This feature is designed to help trip members find each other in crowded places.
- Opt-in only: Location sharing is never automatic. You must explicitly choose to share your location each time by selecting a duration (5, 10, or 15 minutes).
- Temporary: Location data is automatically deleted when the sharing session ends or when the selected duration expires, whichever comes first.
- Limited visibility: Your location is only visible to members of the trip you are sharing in. It is not visible to other Atlas users, friends outside the trip, or the public.
- No history: We do not store location history. Only your most recent position during an active sharing session is retained, and it is deleted immediately when the session ends.
- Foreground only: Location is only collected while the app is open and in the foreground. We do not track your location in the background.
- You can stop at any time: You can end location sharing immediately by tapping "Stop sharing" in the chat.
Location data is transmitted securely and stored temporarily in Firebase Realtime Database. It is not used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than displaying your position to your trip group during an active sharing session.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Enable collaborative trip organizing features
- Send you notifications about trip updates, reminders, and friend requests
- Respond to your comments, questions, and requests
- Monitor and analyze trends and usage
Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With Trip Members: Your profile information and trip contributions are visible to other members of trips you join.
- With Friends: Your username and profile are visible to users you connect with as friends.
- Service Providers: We use the third-party processors listed in the "Third-Party Processors" section below to host and operate Atlas. These providers are bound by confidentiality and data-processing obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
Third-Party Processors
We rely on the following third-party services to deliver Atlas. Each is named so you know who processes your data and why:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC / Google Cloud) — hosts the database, file storage, authentication, and server-side logic that power Atlas. Specifically:
- Firebase Authentication — verifies your identity when you sign in with email, Google, or Apple.
- Cloud Firestore — stores your profile, trips, friendships, expenses, notifications, and chat messages.
- Firebase Realtime Database — stores short-lived live-location updates while an active location-sharing session is running.
- Firebase Cloud Storage — stores profile photos, trip cover images, and attachments you upload.
- Firebase Cloud Functions — runs trusted server-side operations such as creating trips, writing expenses, and sending notifications.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — delivers push notifications to your device.
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects anonymised crash reports.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring — collects anonymised performance metrics.
- Firebase App Check — verifies that requests come from legitimate Atlas installs.
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — manages Atlas Pro subscriptions. Receives your App Store or Google Play purchase events and a pseudonymous user identifier so we can grant premium access.
- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) — optional sign-in method; if you use it, Google handles the authentication handshake and shares your email, name, and profile photo with Atlas.
- Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.) — optional sign-in method; if you use it, Apple handles the authentication handshake and returns an account identifier (and your name and email on first sign-in, unless you choose to hide them).
- Google Maps & Google Places (Google LLC) — renders maps and suggests place names when you add a destination or event location. Your search queries and approximate device location are sent to Google to return results.
- Google Cloud Vision API (Google LLC) — scans images you upload (profile photos, trip banners, chat attachments) for policy violations (adult, violent, or other unsafe content). The image is sent to Cloud Vision, classified, and the response is used to allow the upload or take it down. Images are not retained by Cloud Vision for training; see Google Cloud's data-processing terms.
- Apple and Google (App Stores) — process Atlas Pro payments. Their privacy policies govern that payment data; we never receive your payment card details.
We do not use any advertising, behavioural-tracking, or data-broker services in Atlas.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure via Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Realtime Database, and Cloud Functions). We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by default on Google Cloud.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Trips are automatically archived 30 days after their end date, at which point attachments are removed but trip summaries are preserved.
You can delete your account at any time through the app settings. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems, though some information may be retained in backups for a limited period.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of push notifications through your device settings
Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.
Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the Atlas app by navigating to Settings > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your profile, trip data, expense records, and any other personal information from our systems.
If you are unable to access the app or need assistance with data deletion, you can submit a request by emailing us at support+atlas@raisersoftware.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: You can request details about the personal information we collect about you and how we use it.
- Right to Delete: You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected about you. You can do this directly in the app via Settings > Delete Account.

Equal Protection for All Users
The access, correction, deletion, and non-discrimination rights described in the California (CCPA) and Canadian (PIPEDA) sections above are extended to every Atlas user regardless of where you live. If a local privacy law grants you rights beyond those listed here (for example, the EU / UK GDPR or Brazil's LGPD), those additional rights also apply and you can exercise them by contacting us at support+atlas@raisersoftware.com.
